Michael Lynch

Michael is passionate about assisting companies and individuals grow their business through the development of their people and strong corporate governance, systems and procedures.

Michael has been successful in guiding companies in the establishment of the required levels of project management and documentation necessary for government programs, and has a passion for professional and effective corporate governance.

Michael spent the first 20 years of his working life as a marine engineer at sea and managing repair and refit projects. Following this period he owned and operated a successful commercial diving, underwater construction and diver training business. For the next three years Michael owned and operated a consultancy in the fields of integrated logistic support (ILS), contracting to the Department of Defence and to defence related industries.

In 1991 Michael moved to the area of government business incentives and has specialised in the R&D Tax Concession, the R&D Tax Incentive and other government innovation programs since that time. He is acknowledged as an expert in this area, being called on to submit practitioner articles for CCH Tax week and to speak at industry conferences.

Michael has been heavily involved with the protection of R&D benefits for Australian companies has presented to the Senate Economics Legislation Committee during their review of the Taxation Laws relevant to this area. Michael was a foundation member of the Industry Research and Development Board’s R&D Tax Concession Administration Consultative Group.
Michael’s current activities include his position as Chairman and CEO of BSI Learning – which plays to his strengths of Strong Corporate Governance and Project Management.

Michael holds a Diploma in Marine Systems, a Graduate Diploma Business Administration (Syd) and a Diploma from AICD. He is a Justice of the Peace (NSW), a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAIDC) and an Associate Tax Institute of Australia Tax Agent (R&D)

Chief Learning Officer/ Director

Scott Henderson

Scott Henderson is a registered psychologist, with a solid background as an educator. His expertise includes areas such as leadership, teams, group dynamics, communication, body language, persuasion techniques, stress, and workplace satisfaction.

Scott has worked as a lecturer in psychology, behavioural science and research at the Universities of Sydney and Western Sydney. Lecturing for six years at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, his expertise includes such areas as leadership, teams and group dynamics, communication and body language, persuasion techniques, stress, and workplace satisfaction.

Since 1999, his work in the corporate sector has spanned the spectrum from industrial psychologist to coach and corporate trainer. In 2004 he became a certified Master Coach in Behavioural Coaching and he continues to coach both individuals and teams at all levels within the companies with which he works. Scott is also an accredited DiSC and LSI trainer.

His unique perspective of inter- and intra-personal understanding compliments the delivery of his training programs and ensures a rigorous and scientific approach to each participant’s growth and development. He has delivered training throughout Australia and New Zealand including courses in Customer Service, Communication, Leadership and Management, Performance Management, Coaching, Team Building, Conflict Resolution, Assertiveness, Business Development and Sales, Time Management, Life Balance, Managing Change and Professional Presentation Skills. Scott has a reputation of being a lively and entertaining speaker and he continues to work hard to dispel the stereotype that psychologists actually get people to lie down on couches!

Chief Financial Officer

Dylan Chan

Dylan has an extensive history in integrated Financial Planning and Accounting. In his role as Chief Financial Officer for BSI Learning he oversees the ongoing financial viability of the RTO, through strategic planning, cashflow management, forecasting, margin management, staffing utilisation, integration of new service lines, and cost efficiencies.

Dylan has a strong understanding of the VET Standards for National Registration and the associated Financial Viability Risk Assessment Requirements, this knowledge allows him to provide advice and guidance at a broader managerial level in relation to the finance, structuring, resourcing, operations and staffing of BSI Learning, alongside the rest of the Executive team.

Dylan’s goal is to ensure BSI Learning is a financially viable and thriving business, balanced against an ongoing backdrop of delivering high quality student outcomes and maintaining rigorous compliance standards.

Chief Executive Officer

Kala Philip

Drawing upon her real-world experiences, Kala’s broad industry sector expertise brings a real and practical strength to the solutions, clients, consultants and stakeholders she works with at BSI Learning. As the Chief Executive Officer, of the vocational education and training arm of the group, her role is to drive the strategic initiatives for the RTO, ensure quality design and delivery of our high impact client solutions, the inclusion of emerging market needs and skills sector in our client delivery. Along with her team of executives, consultants, trainers, assessors and solution managers, Kala’s work focuses in four areas: Brand, People, Systems and Solutions – Ensuring a people focused approach to developing customised learning solutions and the end benefits for the client being increased performance and productivity.

Kala’s 23-year career in the L&D industry started in Dubai in 2000, where she spent 4 years building a successful IT training consultancy. In 2004, Kala immigrated to Australia and after working as a senior client manager for 7 years at a corporate training firm, she joined BSI Learning in May 2012. In the last 11 years she has worked in various roles within BSI, and has been instrumental in the growth of BSI Learning including setting up a transnational education team, and being part of an Austrade delegation, for the first ever Future Skills Initiative Mission from Australian VET to India.

Chief Compliance Officer

Scott Wesley

Scott is a highly experienced senior manager and Chief Executive Officer, specialising in agile operations management, quality assurance and risk minimisation solutions spanning the financial services, hospitality and vocational training sectors. He is acknowledged for a pragmatic, business-focussed approach as well as the ability to quickly establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.

Scott possesses sound strategic thinking skills coupled with a hands-on approach to day-to-day operational issues. He understands the important balance between maintaining compliance in a regulatory environment, and the needs for organisations to remain financially viable.

Scott has a strong current knowledge of trends and issues in the sector, enabling proactive strategic advice to clients. He is acknowledged for his ability to design and implement quality assurance systems which not only enables RTO’s to remain compliant with regulations, but also enhances business efficiency.

Scott has expertise in scope management, data integrity and content management. He is highly experienced in dealing with all current regulatory bodies – the Australian Skills Quality Authority, the Victorian Registration & Qualifications Authority and the Training Accreditation Council WA – with whom he builds consultative and collaborative relationships, producing workable and cost-effective outcomes for our clients.

Among his many credentials, Scott is a qualified quality and compliance auditor.

Simon Dewar

Simon Dewar is our resident Learning and Development expert and is regularly found consulting with our clients to assist them to develop their learning strategies.

Simon believes in taking the time to understand needs and motivations, and bringing creativity to the table to get learners interested. Leading the capability and consulting team, he is often found getting excited about new possibilities and managing relationships with our key accounts to secure our latest projects. A leader and brand ambassador, he is a strong communicator with an uncompromising sense of style.
